Directly sourcing fresh produce

British Columbia has land that is ideal for blueberry growing, acidic peaty soils, with cold winters and bright warm summers.

Blueberries are a healthy, convenient food that is considered by many to be a “superfruit” for their high anti-oxidant content. Blueberries are low fat, sodium free and a good source of both fiber and vitamin C. A 142g (one cup) serving of fresh blueberries will give you 5g of fiber and 15% of your daily vitamin C, all for only 100 calories.

Harvesting commences in early July and is completed by late September. The area planted in blueberries is estimated to be 8,000 hectares. There are more than 20 different varieties planted with more than 50% of the area planted to the variety Duke. Bluecrop and Elliott are among other popular varieties in the region. Fresh Concept Canada is leading and developing access to international markets for fresh BC blueberries.
